SpareOne Debuts Waterproof Packaging for National Preparedness Month

by Brian Mullin on September 12, 2012

This sounds like a real useful item, and would be great for bringing
on long bike rides, road trips, and anywhere that a phone might be
needed, especially if yours gives up the ghost. And of course, as a home
safety item for disasters. Very cool indeed!

SpareOne Equips Consumers for National Preparedness Month with Debut of New Waterproof
Packaging, Floatable and Submersible Up to 1 Meter
Waterproof
bags combined with TorchLight and auto-911 dial make SpareOne, the
world’s only mobile phone powered by a single AA battery, the ultimate
tool for emergency preparedness

Costa Mesa, CA – September 10, 2012 –
SpareOne, the world’s only emergency mobile phone powered by a single
AA battery, is rolling out waterproof packaging to safeguard SpareOne
from common damage occurring during storage, transport and safekeeping,
as well as from environmental effects of major natural disasters such as
flooding, blizzards and hurricanes. SpareOne is launching the new
waterproof bags to coincide with National Preparedness Month, shipping
all phones in waterproof packaging, plus offering $10 off on all
purchases made on www.SpareOne.com.
Sponsored by FEMA, National Preparedness Month encourages Americans to
take simple steps to prepare for and respond to emergencies.

The
re-sealable waterproof bags are certified according to the IPX7
Waterproof Standard to protect against water submersion for 30 minutes
at a depth of 1 meter. The bags will also float and have extra room to
accommodate a few small items (i.e. credit cards, ID and band aids) and
feature a humidity-proof hermetic seal on top. This seal folds over
tightly up to three times and is then enclosed by Velcro for double
protection.

“The role of technology in disaster prevention and
mitigation is evolving exponentially, and SpareOne has become a
game-changing preparedness device since it requires a single AA battery
to operate and keeps lines of communication open when power is
completely unavailable or inaccessible,” said Alan Cymberknoh, SpareOne
Project Director at XPAL Power. “By adding an extra layer of protection
to preserve the phone’s functionality from environmental degradation,
we’ve taken the next step to assure consumers will always have a
lifeline for emergency situations. During National Preparedness Month,
we’re encouraging consumers to – live prepared.”

With
an operating range of -22 degrees Fahrenheit to 140 degrees Fahrenheit,
and delivering up to 15 years of battery life when stored unused and 10
hours of talk time when in use*, SpareOne is a lifeline in emergency
situations. Featuring a TorchLight that provides 24 hours of continuous
light, a dedicated 911 dial button to alert authorities, and the ability
to pre-set 9 important speed dial numbers, SpareOne is a tool no
emergency kit should be without.

SpareOne, $69.99, is available now on www.SpareOne.com.
Orders placed during the month of September will be discounted by $10
and shipped in waterproof bags in honor of National Preparedness Month.
