Interbike 2014 – Hydrapak Stash and SoftFlask

by Brian Mullin on October 8, 2014

Matt Lyon, the President of Hydrapak, walked me through their collapsible bottle and flask lineup at the Interbike show. Last year they released larger sizes of their award winning soft-sided and collapsible SoftFlask, and this season they announced the innovative Stash Collapsible Bottle, which morphs the SoftFlask characteristics with a stand up design. Unfortunately they are no longer going to make hydration packs, and are going to focus on these collapsible bottles and flasks, and their core business, the hydration reservoir.

Softflask comes in fives sizes, the flat shaped SF 150 and SF 250, and
the four-sided SF 350, SF 500 and SF 750. They’re constructed with TPU
(thermoplastic polyurethane) for strength and flexibility, and RF welded
to create superior bonds. They’re BPA/PVC free, dishwasher safe and
come with a No-Leak Product Warranty.

  • 150 $12.99 and 250 $13.99 – Colors: Blue/Clear, Orange/Clear
  • 350 $18.99 and 500 $19.99 and 750 $ 20.99 – Colors :Orange, Smoke/Gray, White/Blue

smaller ones are meant for gels and water while the new larger ones
are for hydration purposes. Although primarily aimed for runners and
hikers, the three larger ones will be useful for biking when you need to
carry extra water on long rides, and they’re collapsible for easy
storage. I used the SF 500 model on many occasions, and the size is ideal to place on top of your hydration compartment.

SF 350, SF 500 and SF 750 have a molded top and bottom, and have a 42mm
opening for easy filling and cleaning.  The screw cap utilizes a twist
locking system that is leak proof and offers a high flow rate from soft
silicone bite valve, and it has a dust cover and finger loop.

The SF 150 and SF 250 have a smaller 28mm
opening and a screw cap with a soft silicone bite valve. Due to their
flat shape they are easy to collapse and store in a variety of locations
including jerseys pockets.

recently introduced the Stash Collapsible Bottle, which should be
available in late Fall 2014. It’s BPA/PVC free, dishwasher safe and come
with a No-Leak Product Warranty. The Stash is a 750ml bottle and
will come in Blue, Orange, Green Lime and Smoke colors, and will retail
for $17.99.

Stash utilizes a soft TPU (thermoplastic polyurethane) film body welded
to a hard molded top and bottom that snaps together when compressed.
The Stash stands upright when full or in-use and can be nested together
when collapsed, and packs down to a diminutive 2 inches in height for
storage. It has a nylon finger loop and a 42mm screw cap opening, and
can be used with the optional SoftFlask twist locking bite-valve system.

Stash Collapsible Bottle looks ideal and I like the stand up feature
of this collapsible bottle, making more useful in some situations than
the SoftFlask.
