The Leatt DBX 3.0 Enduro All-Mountain helmet is stock full of high technology borrowed from Leatt’s full faced brethren along with venting and adjustment systems applicable for the All Mountain rider. Made of a polycarbonate outer shell, it is lightweight, and the helmet’s key differentiation is that it is equipped with a removable chin bar to modify the helmet for either uphill or downhill use. The helmet is well ventilated with 18 vents on the main helmet and five on the chin guard and works decently at any speeds. The smaller outer shell of the helmet and 3D in-molded impact foam allows for better energy absorption while its visor has a breakaway function that offers a rotational reduction in a crash. For additional safety, it has their 360º Turbine Technology pods that deform to absorb both vertical and rotational impact forces, and for convenience, it has their custom fit Fidlock buckle which pairs perfectly with your hydration system. It retails for $239.99, comes in S, M and L sizes and four color schemes, Blue/Lime, Orange/Teal, Black/White and Brushed.

Measured Weight – Helmet 436g, Chin Guard 412g, Total 848g

The DBX 3.0 Enduro helmet is designed to carry you safely across any terrain. The combination of their 360º Turbine Technology and Armourgel cushioning material gives you premium protection to help you push your limits. An energy absorbing material that is flexible in its natural state, Armourgel hardens upon impact, so the faster or harder you fall, the better it works.

They utilize ten of the 360º Turbines inside the helmet, arranged along the center and sides for complete coverage. This technology helps with brain and rotation safety and reduces the head impact at concussion level by up to 30% and the rotational acceleration to the head and brain by up to 40%.

The two-piece helmet includes the removable chin guard and their DBX 3.0 helmet which has slightly tweaked for interfacing with the chin guard.

Installation is pretty straightforward, just lineup the chin guard tongs and insert them into the helmets receptacles, and then open up the guard levers until you can clasp them against the helmet reinforced edges on the rear vents and snap the lever closed. Then give the chin guard a quick wiggle to make sure that it’s all secure. It took me some practice to complete this task without taking the helmet off my head, but it’s easily doable. Removing the chin guard was simple, just open the levers all the way and wiggle the guard downward, and it pops off.

First Impressions

The DBX 3.0 Enduro All-Mountain is a comfortable helmet with excellent coverage over the ears and down the neck, and the ability to convert it to a full-faced entity by adding the removable chin guard makes for an incredibly versatile powerhouse. The 18 ventilation holes on the helmet and five on the chin guard provide lot’s of air movement, even during slow speeds, so I never felt my head overheating. The interior was deeply padded adding to the comfort level, and the Fidlock magnetic closure system for the chin strap worked like a charm as did the rear adjustment fitting wheel that was easy to use on the fly. The innovative 360º Turbine Technology is an incredible trick system and dramatically improves the interior comfort level, and I am glad it’s there for my safety and protection whenever I happen to crash.

This exceptional one helmet system, in which you can wear a regular full coverage All Mountain helmet for climbs and mild terrain, and then switch to a full-face helmet for downhill’s, provides a more significant margin of safety, security, protection, and versatility.
