Cane Creek eeWings Cranks
The new Cane Creek eeWings full titanium crankset weighs in at a mere 400 grams and costs an extremely pricey $999 (170 and 175mm lengths). The hollow arms, 30-mm spindle, pedal inserts and fixing bolts are all made of titanium and come in a beautiful brushed finish. They toss out numbers of being 20-30% stiffer than carbon cranks, and their build quality, robustness, and durability are backed up by a 10-year limited warranty, which makes the price point a lot easier to swallow. The left side crank arm is welded onto the 30mm spindle, and the drive side arm connects to the spindle with a Hirth joint or Hirth coupling, just like the upscale Campagnolo cranksets utilize.
The eeWIngs are amazingly light, and the welds and artisanship are gorgeous. These are drool-worthy cranks and would look superb on any bike, and the 10-year warranty is outstanding. Ti-Delicious!
The crank arms are made from Grade 9 Ti-3Al-2.5V titanium, while the 30-mm spindle, Hirth joint, pedal inserts, and chainring interface are made from Grade 5 Ti-6Al-4V titanium. The 30mm spindle is compatible with BSA73mm, PF92, PF89.5, BB30 (External Bearing Only), PF30 (External Bearing Only), and 392EVO bottom bracket systems. It uses their CNC machined 7075 T-6 aluminum preload adjuster, which is available optionally for $29 and fits SRAM and Race Face 30mm spindles. For the chainring interface, it’s compatible with the X-SYNC Direct Mount system.
Race Face Next R Cranks
Race Face took elements from their SixC designs and incorporated them with the best of Next to make a lightweight carbon crank (495g) that can deal with massive and aggressive all-mountain shredding and bashing. They’re handmade in Canada from UD Carbon and have a matte clear coat and come with Black, Orange, Red, Purple, Blue, Green and Stealth color schemes.
They use a burly 7050 alloy spindle, downhill rated SixC G2 pedal inserts and have their Cinch technology for easy compatibility.
Nice looking cranks and the specs appear to provide some robustness for bashing them in the real world!
Race Face Vault Hubs
The super fast engagement of the Vault is now available for your custom wheel builds. The 60-tooth drive ring alternately engages six double tooth pawls, giving you 3° engagement for near-instant power transfer. It’s available in Boost and non-Boost, multiple axle standards and Shimano or XD cassette bodies. The oversized hub shell increases torsional and lateral stiffness, and the 6902 bearings larger diameter balls add durability, while the low-drag labyrinth seals protect the internals.
