CushCore is pleased to announce a new addition to its range of high-performance tire inserts: The CushCore 27.5+ insert. 50% Wider than the standard 27.5” insert, yet at a weight close to the current 29” product, the new 27.5+ offering will fit rims with internal widths of 32mm to 45mm and is optimized to bring CushCore’s award-winning ride quality enhancement to tires in the 2.6” to 3.0” range.

Thoughts => CushCore is a foam tire insert that improves handling and cornering performance, offers shock absorption and vibration attenuation, and prevents flats and rim denting. The triangular shaped foam insert fits snugly against the rim, filling in the lower cavity interface between the tire and rim. They work in synergy to act like together a spring and damper, hence offering a mini tire internal suspension system. The addition of the 27.5+ fills in a missing void that the functional and innovative system was missing.

A lightweight, engineered closed-cell foam insert that fits inside the tire, CushCore reduces the tire’s air volume and adds a crucial damping aspect, dramatically improving the way your tires react to terrain and impacts. As such, it is ideally suited to the big world of plus-size tires, where the benefits of low tire pressure and large contact patch traction are often challenged by excess tire deformation and less than ideal sidewall support.

In addition to damping the tire’s air chamber, enhancing the suspension potential inherent in 27.5+ tires, the new CushCore insert bolsters the tire’s sidewall, ensuring more predictable behavior, reducing tire squirm, protecting rims against impacts, and allowing you to realize the full traction benefits of large tires without the potential downsides.

“Plus-sized tires with CushCore make a great setup for riding technical terrain,” says CushCore founder Adam Krefting. “You get the plush ride and extra traction that plus-sized tires are known for, but CushCore controls the bouncy, squirmy feeling that generally comes with a high-volume casing. The bike feels more settled, and you can maintain difficult lines with less effort.”

About CushCore

Developed by Adam Krefting and unveiled in 2016, CushCore supports tire sidewalls, enhances tire contact patch and traction, improves suspension feel, and protects rims from impact damage. It allows a tire to perform at its best and gives riders the opportunity to tune tire behavior through a much broader and more forgiving range of pressure. Since hitting the market, CushCore has been embraced by performance-minded mountain bikers across the entire spectrum, winning accolades within the media and consistently delivering World Cup downhill and EWS enduro riders to the podium.

“The sidewall support is huge… you can run a lighter tire that will roll faster, but still, have a stiff tire you can push hard and not worry about flatting.” – Jared Graves, Team Specialized Enduro
