Ergon will present new ergonomic solutions for the upcoming season at the Eurobike show. Highlights include the anatomically optimized men’s saddles SM (MTB) and SR (Road). Men’s health is given priority here. New E-MTB saddles, updates to the ST Core Prime, and GA3 Twist grips for 2019. Many of the new men’s saddle take their queue from last years women’s specific designs.
MTB – Men
SM Men Series Saddle
Today you no longer need to live with discomfort when seated. The new Ergon SM Men saddles are specifically tailored to the features of the male anatomy and optimized for the requirements of mountain biking. With the assistance of the latest scientific studies and intensive prototyping our interdisciplinary development team – consisting of sports scientists, industrial designers, engineers and test riders – have come up with a new generation of pressure-relief men’s saddles.
The SM Men saddles effectively avoid discomfort and numbness for most applications in mountain biking – for most types of mountain bike riders.
It comes in an SM Sport, SM Comp, and SM Pro version.
E-MTB
SM E-Mountain Series
The Ergon design team has analyzed the requirements of E-Mountain bikers in detail. Longer periods of sitting, steeper uphills and greater levels of impact characterize the E-MTB experience. After an intense development, the optimal saddle shape was found.
The rear ramp supports the rider better in steep uphill-riding situations when seated. The saddle contours facilitate the change to the downhill position when riding behind the saddle. The V-shape also offers freedom of movement across the wide flanks up to the padded nose – important for particularly steep climbs.
Maximum comfort for men and women – there are huge anatomic differences between men and women when it comes to correct seating. Ergon has designed the relief surfaces according to the latest in scientific knowledge and extensive testing. The results are gender-specific shapes of relief channels – effectively avoiding pressure spikes and preventing numbness or related discomfort.
SM E-Mountain Sport
The E-MTB-specific comfort saddle for women and men. Tailored for prolonged seated climbing and particularly steep ascends. The shape matches the female and male anatomy, reliefs in the perineal area, effectively preventing discomfort. Features a dynamic comfort padding and a ramping tail with a flat circumference for great freedom of movement when in the moderately tilted riding position typical for mountain bikes.
OrthoCell®-Inlays in the seating area generate the best possible pressure distribution – the innovative OrthoCell® material ensures maximum reset forces and is also more durable and lighter than gel. Sliding flanks help reduce friction when pedaling.
Performance Comfort – Touring
ST Core Prime
After the successful launch and the first raving reviews “best in test” titles, the ST Core Prime is now also available with a classier gray core. The ergonomic saddle revolution for touring bikes ensures maximum long distance comfort for men and women. The floating concept with Ergonomic Core supports the natural pelvic movements while pedaling, actively relieves the sit bones, and reliably dampens bumps caused by the riding surface. The core consists of BASF Infinergy®, the latest E-TPU material bringing state-of-the-art technology in responsiveness and damping.
The anatomically adapted seating area has been optimized in elaborate studies and field tests for men and women. Thanks to the significant relief channel, numbness and pain are effectively prevented. The new ST Core Saddle is tailored in detail to the needs and requirements of touring and E-bike riders around the world.
ST Gel
Based on the ST Core prime comes our new ST Gel (Saddle Touring). The price-conscious entry into the Ergon touring segment. The orthopedic comfort foam provides a high level of support and comfort for male and female touring biker alike – even on long distances. The gel pads guarantee additional comfort around the sit bones.
As typical for Ergon, the relief surfaces are gender-specific, reliably avoiding discomfort, numbness, and paraesthesia.
MTB Gravity – All-Mountain
GA3 Single Twist Shift
The GA3 All-Mountain comfort grip as Twist Shift long-short-version for one-sided twist shift lever (e.g. Sram XX1®, Pinion® etc.). The fully integrated, rubber enclosed lock-on clamp (collar) on the outside of the grip provides plenty of space for a wide grip stance.
This concept combines the relief benefits and wrist support of an ergonomic wing grip with the freedom of movement of rounder style grips. DNA from our popular GA2 employs optimized shapes and advanced surface textures to reduce gripping forces. Maximum comfort, freedom of movement and total bike control combine in the GA3.
