Dakine has some new gravity oriented apparel under the Thrillium naming, which includes shorts, pants, long and short sleeved jerseys, and gloves. They also are releasing the mountain bike oriented Syncline Pack Series, which consists of a men’s and women’s specific design. Lastly, the new Descent Duffle is ideal for carrying all your gear to the trailhead.
Thrillium Jersey
The updated Thrillium Jersey (MSRP $60-65), available in long and short sleeve versions, has a softer hand feel, looser fit, and a heavier, more durable stretch mesh construction of bluesign®-approved materials. The addition of Polygiene® odor control technology allows for extended wear without the stench. The 4-way stretch construction provides ease of movement while the
cut crew neck, drop rear hem and raglan sleeves offer functional style and comfort. Also includes a hidden interior sunglass wipe.
It comes in Castlerock, Slate Blue and Electric Mint colors, S, M, L, XL, XXL sizes and the short sleeve retails for $60 and the 3/4 sleeve for $65.
Thrillium Pant and Short
Paired with the jersey, the all-new Thrillium Pant or Thrillium Short featuring Schoeller’s ecorepel® Bio, a bluesign®- approved 4-way stretch woven with PFC-free DWR, offers a super technical kit for downhill riding. Both offer a ventilated laser perforated waist and inner thigh for maximum airflow and articulated stretch panels for full range of movement. Zippered hand and thigh pockets allow space to stash essentials, while also reducing the risk of catching on the bike. The addition of the camlock buckle allows for easy adjustment even while wearing gloves, and the deep shank button fly maintains added security at the waist. The double stitch construction ensures long-lasting performance. The Thrillium Pant includes flex zones in the knees, positioned to moved when worn over pads, like the new Mayhem Pad.
The short comes in Black and Electric Mint, S, M, L, XL, XXL sizes and retail for $120, while the pant comes in Black, S, M, L, XL, XXL sizes and retail for $160.
Mayhem Knee Pad
The most motion-friendly hardshell kneepad on the market, the Mayhem features a 3D-molded CURV® composite cup protection that is more durable and impact resistant than carbon fiber. The 4-way stretch AriaprenePro™ perforated and breathable construction and full articulation of the upper cuff allow the pad to track with knee movement so it stays in place during motion, and won’t move during impact. The freeride-inspired pad includes a longer design on the shin to minimize pedal strikes and also offers lateral and medial side protection with 270-degree padding. Additional features include Polygiene® odor control technology, adjustable thigh, and calf straps, articulated thigh paneling, interior patella support and back of calf compression for a secure fit.
They come in black, S, M, L, XL sizes and retail for $100.
Syncline Packs
Designed for dedicated mountain bikers, the new Syncline Pack Series boasts a roomy main compartment while also housing a 3L HydraPak® lumbar reservoir with high-flow blaster bite valve with shut off, quick drink tube disconnect, and magnetic hydration hose clip in the quick access lower front pocket. The multiple pockets feature functional design details including internal organizer for tools, mesh side pocket for extra water bottle carry, and fleece lined sunglass pocket. The breathable airflow back panel and shoulder straps allow for maximum airflow. Additional features include front helmet attachment loops; deployable armor carry straps, safety light attachment, and integrated rescue whistle. For men, the collection includes the Syncline 12L (MSRP $120) and Syncline 16L (MSRP $130) options. For women, the new Syncline 12L Pack (MSRP $120) is offered in Dakine’s signature Women’s Specific Fit to provide comfort and performance without sacrificing style. Designed specifically for women with a shortened backpanel but with a wider base to maintain the same overall pack volume, a canted waistbelt for broader hips, S-curve shoulder straps with narrower shoulder span and higher sternum strap range all allow for efficient load transfer and premium all-day comfort. The pack also includes a 3L HydraPak® lumbar reservoir for hydrating on the go and all the functional pockets, straps and design details of the men’s version. Both packs are DK Impact Spine Protector compatible (sold separately) – constructed of CE certified 3D-molded low profile DK foam that is soft and flexible with shock absorption hardening on impact resulting in a comfortable, breathable and effective pad for added protection.
Descent Duffle
The new Descent Duffle (MSRP $100) offers over 70 liters of storage capacity for bike gear and accessories. With a wide zippered opening, the bag is designed with a floating internal divider to house a helmet separate from apparel, and a tarp-lined internal side pocket to store pedals without tearing the bag or scratching other gear.
The roomy end pocket stores shoes, and also stashes a tuckaway mat for changing at the trailhead.
The front pocket is designed with a food and tool organizer panel with built-in bottle opener, and the external access mesh pocket can hold an extra water bottle or organize your gloves. The bag was also designed with a side attachment for securing a floor pump. The handles are long enough to double as a shoulder strap for easy carry. Dakine’s collection of gear packs and bags will be available at select retailers and online at dakine.com beginning February 2019.
