The Verdict lineup of tires includes the Verdict 2.5 and Verdict Wet 2.5, and they feature an aggressive front-focused design where traction is more paramount than rolling efficiency. The Verdict has tall, chunky knobs that dig deeply into loose and sloppy terrain using an abundant open space layout between all the knobs. The meaty tread of the Verdict family helps them grab and brake in off-camber corners and chundery descents.

The Verdict 2.5 comes in 27.5″ and 29″ sizes, TCS Tough ($80.95-$83.95) and TCS Light casing ($70.95-$72.95), while the Verdict 2.5 Wet comes in in 27.5″ and 29″ sizes but only a TCS Tough casing ($80.95-$83.95). The tires should be available around the mid-May timeframe.

Verdict vs Verdict Wet?

The Verdict and Verdict Wet have a very similar tread pattern, but the Wet versions have 1.5mm taller knobs, which will improve their traction and braking in wet and muddy conditions, with a slight loss to rolling. On both of the tires, the lugs have some deeps sipes in them, which helps in wet conditions and aids greatly in traction and braking.

Verdict 2.5 Tread Pattern

Tread Compounds

Both the Verdict and Verdict Wet feature their new TriTec Compound, which utilizes three rubber compounds to provide different levels of traction, support, and durability. First, a base of high durometer rubber supports the entire tread and transitions into the knobs to prevent folding and squirming. Second, medium stiffness center knobs cap the base layer to provide traction and durability without sacrificing rolling efficiency, and lastly, soft compound shoulder knobs deliver maximum grip and slow rebound for increased cornering traction

Casing

The TCS Light Casing is a supple, lightweight carcass designed to be compliant and conform to trail objects while still providing a happy balance of low rotational weight and rugged reliability. The new Slash Guard on the TCS Light features a nylon insert spanning the entire sidewall, from the tire bead to the outer knob. The supplement provides additional sidewall protection without adding unnecessary weight.

The more robust TCS Tough Casing is composed of two full layers of casing, leaving no area unprotected, and it’s designed to take punishment and has been optimized for sealant usage, retention, and consistency.

Bottom Line

  • The Verdict tread pattern excels in loosest, rowdiest conditions where relentless traction takes priority over rolling efficiency.
  • Abundant open space between all knobs allows the tread pattern to dig through the driest days of summer and fling mud in the wettest months.
  • Pair it with the Judge 2.4 as a rear tire for claw-like braking traction that matches the tenacious grip of the Verdict tread.
  • Optimized for use with i29 rims.
