Muc-Off is taking some environmental responsibility and moving in a green-oriented direction, so they started offering their excellent Nano Tech Bike Cleaner in a new concentrated version in 500ml, 1-liter, and 5-liter sizes to help cut down on additional packaging. Now they’re providing refill stations for their Cleaner at some select UK bikes shops, with global expansion happening soon.

Thoughts from testing Muc-Off Nano Tech Bike Cleaner => With the bike still wet from the rinse cycle, grab the cleaner and spray it all over the bike, making sure to cover every spot, especially those where the dirt and debris are caked over and still showing and let the solution sit on the surfaces for 3-5 minutes to allow the cleaner to do its work. Their cleanser quickly breaks down dirt and grime on microscopic levels utilizing a unique blend of ingredients and surfactants without any nasty chemicals. It’s biodegradable, free from acids, and solvents, and it’s safe on all surfaces, including disc brake rotors and pads. I liked using the spray cleaner since it did a great job of loosening the dirt from the bike’s surfaces, and I didn’t need to get my hands dirty and cold, which is a big deal on chillier days. I didn’t need to resort to the typical soap and water bucket, which I have done for years, and although that method works just fine, I thoroughly enjoyed the sort of hands-free design of their cleanser.

Press Release

Muc-Off announced the rollout of their refill stations in the UK. With over 80 dealers already signed up to the program, from Inverness down to Truro, cyclists around the UK can now easily top up their bottle of Muc-Off Nano Cleaner in-store, saving cash and eliminating unnecessary plastic!

This project has been developed as part of a bigger move towards significantly reducing plastic under the business’ ‘Project Green,’ which aims to eliminate over 30 tonnes of plastic by 2023. Furthermore, this new in-store service supports Muc-Off‘s IBD network by helping to diversify dealers‘ revenue streams and facilitating regular repeat custom.

“Finding ways to reduce plastic and CO2 is top of the agenda here at Muc-Off. Encouraging and facilitating the re-filling of our bottles through our IBD network is a positive step towards helping us achieve our Project Green objective as well as supporting our ambassador dealers.”– Alex Trimnell, Muc-Off Managing Director

Muc-Off is giving the refill Point of Sale stands to dealers for free when they place an order for 2 x 25-liter containers of Nano Bike Cleaner. The leading bike cleaning and maintenance brand aims to put 250 of the refill stations in UK ambassador stores, which would save 54,000 plastic bottles from being produced, which equates to just over 6 tonnes! The end consumer will save 50% off their 1-liter Bike Cleaner with the refill RRP at £5.49 (usually £10.99 for a new bottle). Muc-Off also plans to roll this initiative out globally over the coming months, which will further amplify the plastic savings.

About Muc-Off:

Back in 1991, Rex and Marilyn Trimnell got things started with X-Lite UK. After designing and manufacturing the world’s first twin crown bicycle fork, Rex created a perfectly pink spray to clean his kit. To make a long story short, Rex’s cleaner was the best thing since sliced bread, and it wasn’t long before word got out, and Muc-Off was born.

Fast-forward to now, and Muc-Off is now the go-to brand for top riders. And, in case you haven’t noticed, they do a bit more than our original pink cleaner these days.
