Big Agnes has updated its Copper Spur HV UL tent series with an extra zipper system that will offer awning-style vestibule doors that integrates with your trekking poles, providing shade and drizzle protection. You can also roll the door up out of the way for better venting and viewing if desired. They’ve added larger gear lofts, pockets, and a new 3D bin for more storage space, and their ultralight double-nylon ripstop fabric is less stretchy, which should make a difference when the tent gets damp.

The new TipLok Tent Buckle pole grommet design has a locking mechanism, so once you insert the tent pole into the grommet, the tip of the pole stays put and won’t pop out when you’re on the other end inserting the next one. I have had that happen so many times when you’re trying to set up a tent by yourself, and this small innovation will take out a lot of frustration while erecting a tent. The rainfly attachment and tensioner plus the stakeout loop are included to create a trouble-free setup system.

The Copper Spur HV UL tent comes in a 1-person (UL1), 2-person (UL2), 3-person (UL3), and 4-person (UL4) version.

Per Big Agnes:

Already one of our best-selling, full-featured, ultralight backpacking tents, the Copper Spur HV UL series just got better. Redesigned with new features inside and out, using proprietary materials that are lighter, stronger, and equipped with hardware that makes set-up even easier. The high volume design provides ample living space in this freestanding structure via it’s high-quality DAC tent poles. Traditional, media and 3D bin pockets help to organize your gear without cramping your sleep space or capacity to sit up inside. Awning-style vestibules can be customized to expand living space, great for both drizzle and sun protection, and can be pitched with trekking poles, accessory tent poles, and stabilized with included extra guylines.

Hi. Do you know where I can get those TipLok Tent Buckles? I am making me ultra light footprint from Tyvek for bikepacking to use just rain fly, Tyvek and bivy. I tried, but BA will not sell me those.

I would imagine those are a proprietary design. I am sure some third party company makes them for Big Agnes, but I have no idea who that might be?

The MTB Lab.
