Summit Jacket

Summit Shell Jacket

Light enough to bring on any ride, refined enough to be your go-to shell.

The Summit Shell Jacket weighs in at a svelte 110g and packs up small enough to go with you on every ride, providing useful wind and water protection without sacrificing ventilation or storage space. It features a functional two-way YKK Vislon front zipper for easy venting, and the interior envelope pocket doubles as stuff pocket that you can pack the jacket back into itself. The thin hood was designed to fit under your helmet without interfering with fit and comfort. It utilizes the Barrier Lite fabric, which is lightweight and windproof, and it has the Eco-friendly C6 water-resistant DWR treatment coating to help shed moisture.

It comes in Forest and Black colors, S-XXL sizes, and retails for $100.

Impressions

I’ve loved the Summit Shell Jacket for my mountain biking adventures, as it’s almost weightless and packs small enough to fit in a pocket or pack with ease. It provides just the right amount of wind-breaking and water-resistance to make it useful for any inclement and chilly weather outside of a full-blown rainstorm. It has excellent breathability, so even when it gets damp out, or you build up some body heat, you don’t feel like you are overheating and sweating profusely. When you need extra warmth, or if it starts raining, pull the hood on and tuck it under your helmet. I didn’t have any binding issues when wearing the hood under my helmet, due to the thinness of the material and flat seams.

The easy to operate front opening two-way zipper can be quickly zipped up from the bottom or down from the top to ventilate while climbing and pedaling. When you’re done using the jacket, either stuff the minuscule jacket into a jersey pocket, your hydration pack, or back into its integrated envelope pocket.

Bottom Line => The Summit Shell Jacket with it’s under the helmet hood offers packability, breathability, wind, and water-resistance, making for a highly functional light protective jacket.

Rove Long Sleeve Shirt

A performance twist on a flannel shirt. Designed to be comfortable on the bike, but at home at the pub too.

The Rove Long Sleeve Shirt brings a technical twist to a classic fannel design. This cozy synthetic flannel is made from quick-drying brushed 100% polyester twill with excellent wicking properties and performs both on the trail, commuting, around the home or office, and in the pub/coffee shop. Their polyester twill material has the soft feel of flannel, is wrinkle-free, and offers wickability like a jersey for stay-dry comfort. It features a full-button front opening, button sleeve cuffs, and one buttoned open front chest pocket. It has a comfortable, relaxed fit and a slight drop tail for on-bike coverage.

It comes in Navy/Hydro Plaid (tested), Torch Red/Ressut Plaid,  Forest/Willow Plaid, and Black/Phantom Plaid color schemes, S-XXL sizes, and retails for $80.

Impressions

I have been wearing the Rove LS shirt around the house, at the office, the coffee shop, out for a meal, and almost anywhere I need a lightweight piece of apparel that keeps me warm when the temperatures cool off. It’s uber comfy, plush, and soft, making it perfect for all-day use and outdoor activities such as camping, a bike ride, and hike. Outside the hottest days, I have sometimes worn this almost exclusively, week in and week out, using it more like a favorite hoodie.

Bottom Line => The Rove Long Sleeve Shirt is an excellent flannel that combines comfort, style, and warmth in a superb functional piece of apparel.
