Targhee FastTrack Pack

Backcountry skiers can now load and unload their skis without removing their pack using Gregory’s FastTrack system; design earns Gregory a Gold ISPO Award.

The new Targhee FastTrack (FT) from Gregory features game-changing technology that makes it easier and faster to get skis on and off the pack in the backcountry. Inspired by the quick-turnaround times needed for SkiMo racing, the FT ski-carry is a friction-based system that allows seamless loading and unloading of skis in a few easy steps. The FT system works by sliding skis through a lower loop of material, wrapping a reinforced, elasticized strap around the upper part of the skis, pulling them over the shoulder, and locking them into place with a hook system – all while wearing your pack. The FastTrack was designed by a team of dedicated skiers at Gregory who strive to create packs for like-minded people, with thoughtful features intended to keep you safe, warm, and focused on your objective. The Targhee FT won a 2020 ISPO Gold Award in the Alpine & Freeride Backpacks category for its innovative and incredibly forward-thinking design.

In addition, the Targhee FT is made with extremely durable, weatherproof materials and all of the weight-reducing features that Gregory offers in its alpine series. For long days on the skin track, the Targhee FT offers the option to remove heavier components, such as the hipbelts, top pocket, and frame sheet. This is an entirely new feature in the Targhee line and reduces the weight to 1.8 Ibs (35L). This allows for versatility and the ability to tailor the pack for different types of skiing missions. In addition, the Targhee’s aluminum hardware is optimized for use while wearing gloves to avoid cold hands, and the thermoformed back panel is designed to ward off snow build-up. This minimalist yet incredibly high-performing pack brings light and quick transitions to the backcountry.

The Targhee FT is available in 35 ($219.95) and 45-liter ($239.95) capacities.

Resin Pack

For Fall 2020, Gregory is taking significant steps toward increasing sustainability with its first-ever pack constructed entirely from recycled fabrics, and a new sustainability program that is driven by data and research. Gregory’s end goal is to make it easier for the brand and its consumers to make a positive impact on the world. Gregory is partnering with experts at a leading life-cycle assessment firm, Sphera, to measure the impacts of each product it builds – from the materials and manufacturing to packaging and shipping. This data-driven analysis allows Gregory to employ more sustainable materials, consume less water and energy, and reduce pollution, which lowers the overall carbon footprint of each pack. This life-cycle analysis also acts as a tool to educate consumers on the environmental impacts of their purchase and offers actionable steps to offset the carbon footprint of each product they

At the center of this program for Fall 2020 is the Resin. Using the custom life-cycle analysis software, Gregory was able to reduce the carbon footprint of the Resin by 59%, compared to a conventional nylon pack. The Resin is made solely from recycled fabrics, requiring 49% less energy, 39% less water, and reduces atmospheric and water pollution by 40%. In order to fully offset the carbon footprint of the Resin, a purchaser can carpool, take the bus, or ride their bike 19 miles. This transparent tracking and reporting process provides information to the customer who can then make sustainable choices and take positive actions to help reduce their impact.

Truly sustainable gear is responsibly sourced and built to last a lifetime, which is something Gregory has a wealth of experience in. Beyond the recycled and PVC-free fabrics, purchasers will find Gregory’s usual attention to detail and thoughtful design in the Resin. Built for everyday adventures, the Resin keeps users organized and comfortable, and their gear safe. Mindful design details include:

  • A fully-padded, weather-resistant front panel with a zippered top pocket for essentials
  • A large zippered main opening with a grab handle for easy loading
  • An externally accessed, padded laptop sleeve to keep computers safe and easy to access
  • A full-length side access zipper to the main compartment
  • A dual-density foam padded back panel and shoulder harness with breathable air mesh for comfort

The Resin is the smart choice for those who want a functional pack with modern style and organization while still feeling good about their purchase from a sustainability standpoint. The Resin will be available in fall 2020 and is available in 24 ($99.95), 26 ($109.95), and 30-liter capacities ($119.95).
