Highlights for HOKA ONE ONE Fall 2021 include the Anacapa Mid GTX and Anacapa Low GTX hiking shoes, the Clifton 8 running shoe, and the Zinal trail runner. For apparel, they have the Speedgoat Trail Short, and Merino Short Sleeve, and Long Sleeve Tee.

Anacapa Mid GTX

Since debuting HOKA’s Skyline two years ago, we’ve seen them pour their considerable resources and innovations into the hiker category, and it all comes to a head with this boot. Everything they’ve learned is perfectly represented here: it has everything that you want from a HOKA, with a startling amount of innovation.

We can start with the upper: it’s the brand’s most vivid expression to date of using sustainable materials: a PFC-free DWR treatment paired with a Gore-Tex bootie and wrapped with lightweight leather accents certified by the Leather Working group, with accents and reinforcements of recycled polyester in the collar, mesh and laces. Even the sockliner is 50% soy-based polyurethane. The midsole (with a 30mm/24mm drop in men’s) is all about that HOKA cush, featuring compression-molded EVA and lots of it. They took a pinch of that TenNine Hike GTX extended heel but pared it back a bit for a more familiar stride, but one that retains nearly all of the load-reducing gait cycle of the TenNine.

The outsole is typically HOKA, with early Meta-Rocker and Vibram Megagrip lugs. Plus, it looks awesome (though this is too much, I have two more muted colorways. All this for only $170, which is a heck of a good deal, and weighing what you’d expect from HOKA—not much (13.5oz women’s, 16oz men’s).

  • MSRP: $170
  • Weight: 13.5oz (W) / 16oz (M)
  • Stack Heights: 28mm/22mm (W), 30mm/24, (M)

The Zinal is a slimmed-down, lightweight trail runner designed to be extra grippy and ‘gecko-like’ to tackle technical, mixed terrain with confidence. This responsive, nimble shoe is perfect for fast, shorter distance trail races, delivering the perfect blend of speed, agility, and under-the-foot feel. Clifton 8

Soft & Light For Every Day

The Clifton has been one of HOKA’s most successful models since its original launch in 2014, when it became the industry’s first dialed, lightweight, super cushioned shoe. It really opened up the world to the cushion story, and it’s the perfect choice for everything from high-speed racing to long mileage training to leisurely jogs around the block.

The new Clifton 8 continues upon this success, delivering an even softer ride than its predecessor. Building on the geometries that made the Clifton a gateway for first-time HOKA wearers, the Clifton 8 is reinterpreted with HOKA’s new, ultralight midsole foam that virtually disappears underfoot. Fifteen percent lighter than the previous iteration, this next-gen design is crafted with a breathable mesh upper, ultra-plush tongue, and refined pull tab. Equipped with HOKA’s extended crash pad at the heel and increased rubber coverage for durability, the Clifton 8 is the ultimate everyday trainer.

  • MSRP: $130
  • Weight: 7.6oz (W), 8.8oz (M)
