Waterproof, Fogproof, Compact, and Won’t Break the Bank
Maybe you’ve always wanted a pair. Maybe you have a pair, but it’s so big and bulky (or expensive) that you leave it at home. The fact is, binoculars are must-have gear for the outdoors and better experience your surroundings. The Nocs Provisions Standard Issue 8×25 Waterproof Binoculars check all the boxes: they are compact, offer superb optics, are waterproof and fog proof, have an amazing natural grip, and are ready for adventure.
Nocs Provisions was founded by Chris McKleroy, a designer and co-founder of Boombotix, the company credited with bringing wearable speakers into the urban zeitgeist. McKleroy loves the outdoors – skiing, surfing, mountain biking – and designing products, and he saw a need in the market for a pocketable, high-quality pair of binoculars.
With his product design and manufacturing experience, McKleroy made more than 20 prototypes on a hand-built 3D printer before landing on the final. Nocs has found a rapidly growing fanbase with the perfect blend of quality, value, portability, and aesthetics, appealing to men and women alike who never knew how awesome having a pair of binoculars could be.
Nocs has a strong mission and has partnered with Trips for Kids Marin, a non-profit that provides Bay Area kids from underserved communities with gear and mountain bike opportunities. Nocs supports the organization through 1% for the Planet and direct volunteering. Nocs packaging is plastic-free, made from post-consumer recycled products, and printed with soy ink.
“I started Nocs Provisions to serve the next generation of humans with the goal of disconnecting from technology by helping us discover and study our surroundings,” says McKleroy. “Nocs has been a member of 1% for the Planet since day one, and our products ship in plastic-free, post-consumer recycled boxes printed with soy ink, because we know everything we do matters and impacts the planet. I believe that the more people explore their surroundings, the more they will want to protect them, and that’s a core part of Nocs Provisions’ brand DNA.”
First Impressions => The Nocs Provisions 8×25 Standard Binoculars have an excellent tactile feel, and they’re easy to grip, even when wet or when wearing gloves. The compact size makes them easy to hold, stash in a pack’s pocket or your vehicle’s glove compartment, so they’re always handy for any adventure. The lens offers excellent optics and clarity, with a good field-of-view for a small set of binoculars. Even during humid weather or after getting wet, the binoculars never fogged. The Twist Up Eyecups worked great when wearing glasses or sunglasses, while the pivoting body fit any eye shape, and the zoom wheel allowed you to shapen an image accurately. I found the binoculars perfect for scoping out cliffs and terrain while rock climbing and mountain biking and watching wildlife from a distance.
You can get their optional Woven Tapestry Strap for $27. The comfy and stylish strap makes the perfect complement to your new pair of Nocs. Or any camera or pair of binoculars, for that matter. Woven tapestry motif, easy-to-use, and universal attachment points, lifetime warranty.
