Fox created the lightweight, breathable full-face helmet category. With the Proframe RS, they’ve taken it to the next level.
Fox Racing gave us a sneak peek of the new version of its Proframe full-face helmet, dubbed the Proframe RS (i.e., Race Spec). It has an updated lightweight ultra-breathable design and MIPS most advanced rotational protection technology to date.
It features the new MIPS Integra Split, which is a new rotational force protection system that is integrated into the helmet itself instead of the more typical separate inner slip-plane sheet laced just under the padding.
The innovative and unique technology uses a dual-layer design with the inner being made of EPP foam and the outer a traditional EPS foam. Between these two layers is the MIPS slip-plane that provides rotational impact protection, with some soft rubber-like discs connecting the two layers. Having these two different types of foam is unique since EPS is rated for one impact, whereas EPP and rated for multi-impact.
Other features include an adjustable visor with room for goggles when pushed up, under the visor GoPro mount, a BOA retention system, and a Fidlock buckle. Specifications given were Small (51-55cm) at 710g, Medium (55-59cm) at 820 g, and Large (59-63cm) at 910g. It should be out in early fall for $349.
- MIPS Integra Split – The all-new MIPS Integra protection system combines an EPP liner with an EPS layer and is designed to reduce rotational forces in a crash otherwise transmitted to the brain
- Adjustable Visor – 3-position adjustable visor compatible with goggles and includes a removable under-visor GoPro Mount
- Anti-Microbial Liner – Ionic + anti-microbial liner and cheek pads for an optimized, comfortable fit on any ride
- BOA Fit System – BOA fit system for class-leading fit and security
- Fidlock – Fidlock magnetic closure system allows for quick and easy helmet security and removal
- Ventilation – Increased ventilation and decreased surface contact keeps you cool on long rides
- Certification – CE/CPSC/AS 2063/ASTM F1952/ASTM F2032
