Launching at Eurobike 2022 the totally revised Maxxis Forekaster treads the line between XC and trail. Tread blocks feature sharp edges for predictable traction and the knobs are tightly-packed for enhanced rolling speed.

The 29×2.40 size weighs in under 950g making it a great option for XC and light trail bikes in the 100mm-130mm travel range. We caught up with Jackson Goldstone (Santa Cruz Syndicate) in between World Cup races in the Scottish Highlands to try out the new Forekaster aboard his Tallboy trail bike.

The original Forekaster was designed as a wet weather option for XC, while the new version is aimed squarely at modern short travel (100mm-130mm) trail bikes – aka the “downcountry” segment. Intended to be a “Goldilocks” tire, the new Forekaster rolls fast but also provides solid cornering and braking traction in a broad range of trail conditions.

  • Dual compound or 3C MaxxTerra options
  • EXO sidewall protection
  • Tubeless Ready (TR)
  • Category: XC Race, XC, Trail
  • Recommended use: Loose to wet spring/fall trail conditions
  • Recommended installation: Front or Rear

Thoughts => This tire looks like a perfect weapon to be on the Ibis Exie!
