Arms of Andes, an outdoor apparel company that sister and brother Meli and Rensso created to provide sustainable, warm, durable, and performance-driven clothes made from 100% (that’s correct) Alpaca fiber (many other companies use a synthetic Alpaca blend that can include as little as 20% Alpaca fiber).
In addition to each product being 100% Alpaca fiber, Arms of Andes clothes are also colored with natural dyes to further reduce environmental harm.
Meli and Rensso’s parents grew up in the mountains of Peru, so it was a no-brainer for them to look into sourcing Alpaca fiber from their family’s homeland.
When researching the benefits of Alpaca, Meli and Rensso found that Alpaca outperforms other fibers in terms of warmth and wicking properties. The duo also chose to keep production in Peru, so they significantly reduced their products’ carbon footprint.
