Welcoming Riders of All Levels, Dirt Squad Builds Community and Breaks Down Entry Barriers in Gravel Cycling
Dirt Squad, an inclusive gravel cycling team, is on a mission to expand access to the world of off-road riding. For the 2025 season, Dirt Squad is inviting new members to join. Focused on making gravel riding more accessible, Dirt Squad supports riders in overcoming barriers that often limit entry into the sport, whether through mechanical knowledge, training guidance, or simply building confidence.
“In our first year, 55% of our team members completed their first gravel event,” says team founder and manager Crystal Kovacs. “Dirt Squad proves that longer rides are achievable for everyone. By providing education, hands-on support, and community connections, we’re dismantling the idea that off-road cycling is only for experienced athletes.”
Dirt Squad isn’t performance-focused; it’s community-centered. Open to all skill levels, the team emphasizes camaraderie, offering weekly education sessions with industry leaders, access to top cycling brands, and personalized support at events. Every rider receives a custom kit from Champion System and joins a network of cyclists dedicated to learning, exploring, and sharing the gravel riding experience.
The team’s 2025 lineup includes group meetups at major events like Unbound and Mid-South, offering VIP support from leading brands and event partners. A sampling of the 2025 partners includes Shimano, Salsa Cycles, Champion System, DT. Swiss, USWE, The Feed, Handup Gloves, IRC Tires, and more. Dirt Squad members gain access to exclusive discounts, hands-on learning sessions, and a supportive environment that fosters friendships on and off the bike.
A 2024 member reflects, “As a beginner, Dirt Squad made it easier to connect and learn. I gained valuable skills, like fixing a tire, in a community where I felt supported.”
