Curious Creatures reimagines mountain bike apparel by offering clothes that feel and look like clothes, not costumes. This allows riders to perform their best while staying connected to their style and the natural world. I tested their comfortable, featureful, and durable Cottonwood Long-Sleeve Tee and Ramble Scramble Long Shorts.
Cottonwood Long Sleeve Tee
It is a curious spin on a classic long-sleeve tee.
The Cottonwood Long Sleeve Tee is Curious Creatures’ version of the standard American Tee and utilizes a mid-weight 100% USA Cotton composition. The Tee retails for $85 in Ink Blue (tested), Meteorite, and Creole Pink color schemes. The midweight material means they can run a little warm during hot days.
This long-sleeved Tee is hand-dyed with their signature tie-dye circle art in a minority-owned and operated factory in LA. The hand-done pattern gives it a one-of-a-kind variation from one to the next, creating a unique look.
The 4-way stretch single jersey fabric offers plenty of comfort, and the sleeves are ideal in length and provide plenty of maneuverability, no matter the activity.
The Tee features a rib at the neck, wrist cuff, and neck tape at the back and through the shoulders for a lifetime of consistent fit and durability. It’s all tied together with their fun CC googly-eyed patch logo on the right sleeve.
The Cottonwood Long Sleeve Tee’s 200 gsm 100% cotton fabric is soft, stretchy, durable, and feels good against the skin. It’s perfect for riding, hanging around the house, camping, or the taproom, and what’s not to like about the fun colors and tie-dyed pattern? Once the fall season started, I pretty much lived in the Tee.
Ramble Scramble Long
Their most premium shorts, with classic, timeless styling, are now in a longer 11.5″ inseam.
The Ramble Scramble Long has a longer 11.5-inch inseam, ideal for people with longer legs who want to wear knee pads or deeper coverage. I prefer having a longer inseam, and the 11.5 is perfect—not too long or short. It comes right above my knees, so when I am riding, it doesn’t catch on my kneecaps, yet it is still long enough to provide coverage without creeping up on my thighs. That length also made wearing it more comfortable around the house and while driving.
The shorts retail for $139 in Brown Sugar (tested), Avocado, and Black color schemes.
The Ramble Scramble Long utilizes a stretchy, comfortable, and durable 100% polyester body with a PFC-free DWR (durable water-repellent) finish. The fabric offers moisture management and high performance and uses a bio-based stretch yarn instead of spandex, making the shorts recyclable at the end of their life.
It has two deep front hand pockets, two rear pockets, a side drop-in pocket, and a secure zippered phone pocket. The right back pocket adds a subtle tonal color scheme, providing a fun contrast, and features their CC Eye icon.
The 33-inch waist size fits me perfectly, and I never needed the draw cord to adjust the shorts at the inside waist. The 4-way stretch polyester fabric offers oodles of comfort and lots of give while riding or just wearing around the house. The 240 gsm 100% polyester heavyweight twill seems a tad thick, but its stretchiness, softness, tactile feel, and comfort make it like a pair of well-worn bedroom slippers. The midweight material means they can run a little warm during hot days.
The Ramble Scramble Long provides tons of flexibility along with rugged workwear toughness. It has excellent features, including deep front pockets, stretchy and comfortable fabric, an 11.5-inch inseam, and just plain lived-in and wearable character. These were my go-to pants at home and everywhere in between.
