Inverted Flat Pedal System
The 9Point8 iNVRS pedal system is an interesting and innovative beast. As the name implies, they’ve taken the design of traditional spiked flat pedals and turned them upside down!
The spikes, or studs, have been moved from the pedal to the sole of your riding shoes. The secure grip you expect while riding spiked flat pedals is still there, but without the bleeding shins and with superior footing when you step off the bike.
The iNVRS Pedals have a conventional polymer body, alloy axle, bearings, and seals. However, the spikes have been replaced with a proprietary compound rubber surface designed to grab onto studs in the sole of your riding shoes.
You can stud your favorite flat riding shoes with our carbide-tipped studs or snap an SPD Studded Cleat (patent pending) into your SPD riding shoes. Either way, you get an incredible grip on the pedals and on the ground – don’t walk across your hardwood floors at home in these shoes!
This system works well in any season and weather but performs exceptionally well in the winter. You can stud your favorite warm winter boots and get secure footing on ice and snow and a secure grip on your pedals.
Slack-R
Slack-R Kit to fine-tune your HTA (1.3 to 1.7°, depending on the model) and test the extremes with one of our angle sets. Slack-R is now compatible with MOST Tapered IS headsets. There are three different styles of upper cups to go along with the IS52 lowers. IS41, IS42, and IS42S.
- IS41/IS52 will fit some bikes from manufacturers such as Yeti, Santa Cruz, and Trek (eliminating the need for a Knock Block in most cases). Cube is an exception, as they use a deeper upper bearing seat, and the Slack-R IS41 will not sit properly in Cube frames.
- IS42/IS52 will fit many bikes from Cannondale, Norco, Marin, Orbea, GT, Revel, Scott, and others, including some Specialized with a standard-depth IS42/IS52 headset. The standard bearing seat depth is 3mm.
- IS42S/IS52 will fit Specialized bikes with the 6.8mm deep upper bearing seat. (Some specialized bearings sit deeper than the standard IS42 geometry, so they require their specific top cup to ensure proper fitment)
Stout Stem
The Stout Stem is strong and light, using 7075 aluminum and innovative weight-saving designs.
- 7075 Aluminum. Higher strength-to-weight ratio compared to commonly used 6061 Aluminum.
- Designed For Manufacturing is optimally designed to remove excess material from the inside of the stem.
- Weight Where It Matters. The stem body interfaces with the handlebar less than 180°, effectively shifting the weight to the low-profile stem caps.
