G3Ti Launch Narrative

As e‑bike motors continue to evolve, so do the demands on the hubs and drivetrain components that keep them winching up the mountain and plummeting down. The latest generation of high‑torque motors, including the new M2S and similar systems, deliver more power to the wheel than ever before; that means more stress on the components between the motor and the trail. Building on the proven performance of our G3 and RG3 hubs, Project321 has developed the new G3Ti for riders who want even greater strength, durability, and confidence to meet the growing demands of modern e‑bikes.

Collaborative Design & Manufacturing:

The G3Ti hub represents the next step in our commitment to meet the changing needs of our customers and their bikes. Built to inspire confidence under the most powerful e-bikes, G3Ti delivers unmatched performance and reliability. G3Ti hubs are collaboratively designed and manufactured in our state-of-the-art 42,000-square-foot design and manufacturing facility in Ontario, Canada, and in an R&D, prototyping, and testing facility in Oregon, USA. Two teams, one goal: build components that stand up to the increasing demands of modern e‑bikes, and provide you with the speed and reliability Project321 is known for.

The Updates

 Titanium Driver

At the heart of G3Ti is a new titanium freehub body that replaces the aluminum freehubs used on standard G3 and RG3 hubs. Titanium provides an exceptionally tough and strong platform designed to handle the increased torque of today’s e-bike motors, giving you long-term durability you can rely on. Through our own in-house testing protocols, the G3Ti titanium driver and M-Pulse drive mechanism have withstood peak torque loads exceeding 1100 Nm without failure. We’re confident we can guarantee a platform that’s more than strong enough for any existing or future e-bike, with plenty of safety margin to spare.

Titanium drivers are also fully compatible with existing G3 and RG3 hub lines, for anyone looking for a boost in strength and durability.

Optimized pawl phasing

In addition to the use of titanium as the driver material, G3Ti hubs achieve greater durability in the engagement system by reconfiguring pawl engagement to ensure four of our three-step pawls engage at once (compared to two in our original G3 hubs), in two separate groups over our proven 72T drive ring, for 144 points of engagement, or every 2.5 degrees.

More robust bearing layout

We also replaced the traditional single-row 6802 bearing on our aluminum G3 freehub with a double-row 3802 bearing to further strengthen the axle and bearing layout, delivering our stiffest and strongest freehub assembly yet.

A Strong Case for 6-Bolt Hubs

G3Ti is available in 6-Bolt and Center Lock to ensure compatibility with e-bike speed sensor systems, which aren’t always compatible with our patented 6-Lock brake mount. 6-Lock remains our flagship option on our non-e G3 hubs, however.

Additionally, since we’ll be machining and stocking 6-Bolt shells for G3Ti, we’re also making them available for our original G3 hubs. So if you’re a 6-Bolt hold-out and that’s kept you from investing in Project321 G3 hubs, your wait is over.

M-Pulse Technology

G3Ti hubs employ our signature M‑Pulse (Magnetic Pulse) technology. Originally released in early 2017 in our G2 hubs, M‑Pulse utilizes rare‑earth neodymium magnets to pull pawls toward the drive ring rather than relying on a leaf or coil spring. This configuration ensures the strongest engagement when engaged and minimizes drag while coasting, since the magnetic pawls are not in direct contact with the drive ring while coasting. Traditional push springs are always weakest when engaged and strongest when being depressed, which adds drag while coasting. That’s the secret behind the “free speed” our customers have come to know us for.

The Foundation for Stronger Wheels

G3Ti maintains the same G3 hub geometry to balance spoke tension. Angled spoke flanges create a more direct and straight path for the spoke and nipple, and tall flanges maximize torsional stiffness for direct power transfer while pedaling. The G3Ti hub shell is our take on building the ideal foundation for incredibly stiff, responsive, and reliable wheels.

Proven G3 Driver Seal System

G3Ti employs the same two‑piece seal system proven in our G3 and RG3 hubs to keep oil in and contaminants out. The seal system is comprised of a low‑drag, light‑contact rubber seal pressed into the hub shell, sitting behind an aluminum dust shield for added protection on all trails and in all weather.

Simple Straightforward Compatibility

Our new titanium‑driver G3Ti hubs are available in SRAM XD, Shimano HG, and Microspline, and are backward compatible with our original G3 hubs. On the rear hubs, we use one universal endcap solution and one G3Ti bearing kit across all drivers and axles. 6‑bolt front hubs have interchangeable 15mm and 20mm endcaps, while Center Lock hubs have interchangeable 12mm and 15mm. G3Ti hubs are designed to make drivetrain and endcap conversions simple.

10 Color Options

We plan to offer our new 6-bolt hubs in the same 10 brilliant colors as our existing 6-Lock-equipped hubs. We currently have black and silver 6-Bolt hubs in stock and available for purchase, with the remaining eight colors rolling into stock as we complete new anodizing runs.

Availability and Pricing

Titanium driver-equipped G3Ti hubs are available for preorder now, shipping mid-October. Standard aluminum driver-equipped G3 6-Bolt and Center Lock hubs are available for purchase and shipment now. The initial release of 6-Bolt hubs will be in black and silver, with anodized colors rolling in soon.

How much, you ask? We worked hard to keep the cost of G3Ti the same as our existing flagship 6-Lock-equipped standard G3 models, both of which we think offer a great mix of benefits for your hard-earned money. Additionally, the aluminum driver 6-Bolt and Center Lock versions of G3 have cost reductions compared to both 6-Lock and Ti driver models, so we’re releasing them at a lower price point to give customers even more options and value in our standard G3 hub offering.

  • G3 6-Lock hubs (Existing) start at $650USD/$905CAD
  • G3Ti Titanium driver hubs (New) start at $650USD/$905CAD
  • G3 6-Bolt & Center Lock hubs (New) start at $600USD/$835CAD
