Built for the Places Phones Can’t Go, the $179 Portal AFN7 Pairs A Screen-Free Design with Optics Compatibility to Keep Adventurers Present in the Wild
ALPINE MEADOWS, Calif. – October 1, 2026 – Nocs Provisions, the optics brand built for those who move through the world with curiosity, today announces its expansion into the camera category with the Portal AFN7 Adventure Camera, the first product in its new series of adventure cameras.
Nocs created optics to help people notice more, and the Portal series is the next expression of that idea– a camera designed to remove the friction between experiencing a moment and capturing it.
Screenless by design, Portal encourages people to trust their instincts, stay in the moment, and notice more. Whether paddling miles from service, traversing dusty trails, spending rainy days around camp, or just taking a stroll through the park, the Portal AFN7 is built to withstand real outdoor exposure. Encased in a durable, IP56-rated, weather-sealed body, the 4.9 oz camera resists dust, rain, and heavy splashes, giving users complete confidence to bring it anywhere.
“The form of the Portal AFN7 is a reflection of the art of photography, stripping back the layers and distractions that get between a human and the moment they are in. The shape lends itself to being easy to use, and the weather-proof housing means this thing can go anywhere,” said Chris McKleroy, Founder and CEO of Nocs Provisions. “For the Portal, we set out to design a camera that feels as natural, simple, and fun to grab as a pair of our binoculars. It’s designed to go anywhere you’re going, built to withstand the elements and ready to handle whatever you throw at it, which means you can toss it in a pack, bring it on that river trip, or take it on the trail without a second thought, and that’s the point.”
Portal keeps the technology intentionally out of the way. It features a 1/3.06″ CMOS sensor delivering 16MP still photos and 4K UHD video at 30 fps, paired with a wide 22.5mm equivalent f/2.2 lens and an 8x digital zoom. Six film-inspired presets (including Kodachrome® 64 and KodakGold® 200 aesthetics) let users dial in the feel before shooting, alongside a no-filter mode for a more neutral starting point. Portal also extends the Nocs optics experience from observation into capture.
Rather than a traditional optical viewfinder, the AFN7 uses an ultra-compact digital viewfinder intentionally designed to work with magnified optics. Paired with the included NocDoc alignment shroud, Portal docks directly with Nocs binoculars and monoculars, letting users capture magnified photos and video straight through the optic. The result is a camera designed from the ground up to work as part of the complete Nocs system.
Built with a high-speed USB-C connection port, users can easily plug the Portal AFN7 directly into a computer or phone to transfer photos and 4K video clips after an outing. The camera comes equipped with an included 4GB microSD card out of the box and features expandable storage support for up to 128GB, giving adventurers ample space for full-day shoots.
