The Buff UV Arm Sleeves are warm weather sun sleeves that offer UPF 40+ sun protection for your lower arms while wearing short-sleeved jerseys. You can also utilize them for additional warmth on chilly mornings and while worn under a long-sleeved jersey with or without a baselayer. They’re lightweight, packable and easy to pull on and off when required. They utilize a highly breathable polyester material that is comfortable against the skin and wicks moisture efficiently during heavy use. The four-way stretch fabric provides light compression for optimal blood flow, and it helps to maintain proper shape. The elastic upper cuff has internal silicone gripper dots to hold the sleeve securely in place on your bicep, while the lower cuff is just rolled over material to keep things snug.

They come in three sizes (S/M, M/L, and L/XL), four color schemes, City Jungle (tested), America, Meeko, Aqua Glitch and White and retail for $25.

They utilize an 88% Polyester and 12% Spandex blend which provides a perfect combination of stretch with some light compression, and it has an added antimicrobial fabric treatment for odor control. Besides the wild color scheme, they have added reflective elements for added low-light visibility and safety. The central body seam is flatlock stitched together to prevent any chafing and hot spots issues.

The upper cuff has an elastic band, and it has lot’s of silicone gripper dots on the inside to hold the sleeve in place on your arm. Although it does prevent major drooping issues, I found that after some time it liked to creep downward and I wish they made the entire band (or most of it) with more silicone. The lower cuff was tight enough to remain snug without feeling too constrictive or let errant air from creeping inward.

Bottom Line

The Buff UV Arm Sleeves were extremely comfortable, lightweight and offered excellent UPF 40+ sun coverage and additional arm protection from encounters with bushes and branches, plus the colors and patterns were pretty cool. The four-way stretch material provides light compression for optimal blood flow and reduced arm fatigue, and the highly breathable polyester fabric offered effective moisture control. You could wear them for sun protection with a short-sleeved jersey or utilize them under a longer piece of apparel for additional warmth, making for a multi-functional item. My only gripe was that the upper elastic cuff needs additional silicone to help it stay in place and prevent minor drooping.

They’re easy to pull on and off, light, stowable and provide sun protection to alleviate and prevent skin cancer and damage.
