Outdoor Element launched its newest life-saving multi-tool carabiner, the Fire Escape on Kickstarter. It appeals to everyone from first-responder to soccer-mom, anyone who spends time outside or rides in a vehicle.

For further information, refer to Fire Escape Kickstarter Campaign.

Fire Escape

A fire starting, window breaking, seatbelt cutting, bottle popping, O2 tank opening, every-day-carry, multi-tool carabiner; a must-have tool for just about everyone.

Thoughts => We’ve used their excellent Firebiner for a long time and found it highly feature-laden. It offers the Everspark technology for lighting stoves and campfires, a lightweight carabiner, a screwdriver, a bottle opener, and a small utility knife. The new Fire Escape takes the same useful tech as the Firebiner and takes everything to the next level; Boost Mode! The additional vehicle features, such as the window breaker and seatbelt cutter, offer functional tools that are needed to exit a vehicle during an emergency safely.

I am looking forward to trying out the Fire Escape in the real world. Good luck with the Kickstarter.

You don’t have to be an outdoor enthusiast to have multiple carabiners lying around. It seems everyone uses them on a regular basis. They come in many shapes and sizes and are great for keeping important items close at hand, preventing them from getting lost, storing things, hanging things and just making life easier. Some carabiners even incorporate other tools, which come in very handy. Just when you thought you have seen it all, along comes a wonderful, innovative evolution to the trusty carabiner, inspired by first-responders. Here comes the Fire Escape.

Made from super strong titanium-coated stainless steel with a high-strength stainless steel wire gate, it is built to last. Sure the design is attractive and functional, but where is the innovation? This handy little tool not only comes with a beefy seatbelt cutter, a window breaker, a bottle opener, an O2 wrench and a hex wrench (double as hang-slots for keys), it also boasts their unique EverSpark technology to help make fire-starting a breeze. Use it to start a fire, a grill, a tiki torch, a stove, wherever and whenever you need a spark to light things up.

So what is this EverSpark technology?

It is a key element in the patent for the Fire Escape, and its predecessor the Firebiner. Think of your typical lighter but without the liquid fuel. They incorporate a metal wheel that, when flicked, scrapes up against a Ferro rod housed inside the body and throws a great spark. The Ferro rod is replaceable, so these multitool carabiners can keep on sparking.

The Fire Escape is designed to hold up to 100 lbs, but yet weighs only 1.7 oz, and can replace several tools in your bag, box or trunk. Whether relaxing outside or caught in some emergency, you will certainly be glad you have it. You can relax knowing this little tool can also help you with all the following essentials, and many more:

  • Slicing a seat belt or just cutting some cord,
  • Smashing a window and escaping to safety,
  • Starting a fire and staying warm,
  • Opening up an oxygen tank without fumbling for a separate wrench when seconds count,
  • Tightening or loosening screws to keep things in working order,
  • Popping open a cold one for some pop, fizz, happiness, and
  • Lighting a camp stove or grill to get dinner going.

“Everyone should have the Fire Escape in their car. Your tool is exactly what we needed in a desperate time!” You don’t want to leave home without it. Be prepared and able to escape with the Fire Escape.
