Intense Cycles has launched the new 951 series of bikes which are being focused on affordability. In an interesting twist, they’ll be selling the bikes as consumer-direct, LBS, and through Costco.com. Yep, you read the right, Costco!
The 951 Series comes in two models, the 951 Trail for $3,699 and the 951 XC for $3,250. Both models are full-suspension carbon fiber bikes and include the usual assortment of gear that the price point would include and they come in small, medium, large, and x-large sizes. Although they are Intense’s least expensive models, they were still designed with their typical performance standards from the rest of their bike lineup.
Currently, Costco only has the 951 XC listed on their website. The 951 XC is in stock, and shows ‘Standard shipping via UPS Ground is included in the quoted price.’ We can assume they arrive in a bike box, and it’s up to you to put it together (like any consumer-direct model)?
It will be interesting to see how this works out for Intense? Although it’s an affordable bike, for the average consumer, is it still a bit pricey?
