The Original Handlebar Jack is a simple, innovative portable bike repair stand that protects many bicycles and e-bikes’ accessories attached to the handlebars. Those handlebar accessories include GPS computers, night lights, smartphone mounts, e-bike displays/controls, etc.

The stand solves this problem by attaching to the handlebars to lift them 3.5″ off the ground, thus protecting the accessories and handlebar grips. It holds the bike upside down securely and stably via the saddle and the two handlebar jacks. While the item itself is light and compact, it can quickly secure even a heavy e-bike, and it’s is compatible with virtually any bicycle design on the market, from e-bikes to mountain bikes to road bikes.

The two jacks lock together magnetically for convenient storage. The repair stand weighs only 4.3oz/120g and is 6″ in length and can be stored in a pocket or a pack.

Impressions

The Handlebar Jack is a portable bicycle repair stand that can be used out in the field and around the house or from your vehicle for quick repairs and maintenance. Sometimes you don’t have a stand to hold a bike, and when dealing with tire and wheel work, getting things off the ground is functional, making for easier removal. We all have a lot of gear on our handlebars, some of it can be pretty pricey, and their jacks keep those items up off the ground, preventing extraneous damage. Additionally, with all the stuff up on the handlebars, they don’t always present a flat and uniform surface to keep your bike level and stable while it’s lying upside down. I found the stand extremely useful at the parking lot of a trailhead when doing some maintenance before or after a ride.

It’s simple to use the stand: pull the two jacks apart and extend the legs out into a tripod. On the top of each jack, there is a rounded slot that interfaces directly with the grips or handlebars of the bike. It has some extra-long Velcro straps to help attach the jacks to the bike, allowing it to fit almost any design or setup.

On my mountain bike, I attached them upside down onto the grips and tightened down the Velcro straps to hold them on securely.

Once I had each side done in that manner, I flipped my bike upside down, making a stable triangular platform between the saddle and the two jacks on the handlebars. Once it’s securely set in that position, you can perform any needed work, such as tire maintenance, brake work, drivetrain adjustments, etc. It’s the perfect system for changing out a flat tire in the field.

Bottom Line

The Original Handlebar Jack is an ideal portable bicycle repair stand for quick repairs, tire fixes, and maintenance out in the field, around the house, or at the trailhead. It’s compact, decently light, and provides a stable stand design, in which your bike is upside down and held up via the saddle and the two jacks. It lifts your handlebars 3.5-inches off the ground to protect handlebar accessories from damage. Ideal for group rides out on the trail!

The Original Handlebar Jack is available online for $29.95 at HandlebarJack.com, while a new 1/2-inch Handlebar Jack Extender Kit is $5.99.
