Kestrel Boa
Five Ten was showing off their new Kestrel Boa shoe, which is a mix of x-country, downcountry, and gravel shoes. It utilizes a breathable abrasion-resistant upper and an impact-resistant toe box. The interior of the heel cup uses a slip-resistant fabric, which is sort of like a cat tongue.
The plate-designed sole uses 70% repurposed materials and is reinforced with glass fiber for stability, stiffness, and performance. Previously they would have used carbon fiber, but the glass fiber is a more environmentally/green material.
The sole features Five Ten’s Stealth rubber for traction and walkability. The tread pattern has tall rounded spikes in the front and rear, which is more x-country than any of its brethren.
Adidas Breast Cancer Awareness Collection
Adidas and Five Ten have teamed up to launch a collaboration with proceeds that will go to the National Breast Cancer Foundation. In support of breast cancer awareness, the lineup will have a pink color scheme with some custom artwork. It includes the Five Ten Freerider Pro Canvas, two adidas Terrex shoes, and an adidas running shoe.
Mountain bike athlete Vero Sandler helped design the artwork with input from breast cancer survivors.
The shoes start selling at the end of September to coincide with October’s National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
