Digit Bikes Shows New Prototype 29” Trail Bike at Philly Bike Expo

Digit Bikes showed a first look at a new prototype 29” trail bike, the Ring, at Philly Bike Expo this past weekend. Featuring Digit’s proprietary Analog Suspension and Integer Strut, the prototype features slightly less travel than its all-mountain mullet predecessor, the Datum. The Ring will offer 125mm of rear travel (+/- 5mm pending final design) to be paired with a 140mm front fork.

Digit Ring Trail bike utilizes the all-new ANALOG suspension system that matches the descending and pedaling of four-bar suspension systems while delivering significantly reduced weight, carrying more water bottles, and offering improved reliability. Tim Lane’s design offers s simple and elegant suspension system.

Digit launched its first bike, the Datum, in 2021 through a fully-funded Kickstarter campaign. The Analog suspension matches both the better descending and pedaling attributes of the industry’s most respected four-bar suspension systems while delivering significantly reduced weight, carrying more water bottles, and offering improved reliability.

The Integer Strut uses a longer air spring, tuned to match to the frame’s leverage profile, and the damper holds more oil to resist overheating (fading) and allows higher flow rates through the damper piston (for improved control). As a result, the Integer’s damper can use a relatively simple, very reliable damper design to deliver the best, most reliable performance.

The Ring is expected to launch in early 2023. The Datum is currently available at digitbikes.com.
