ROTOR’s 1×13 Hydraulic Groupset technology has come to the mountain bike world with their new 1×13 MTB Group. “These go to 13.”

This wicked light, hydraulic actuated 13-speed drivetrain uses mineral oil and is now ready for the dirt. The 13-speed kit comes with their 13-speed cassette in either an 11-46 or 11-52 range option, a 13-speed rear derailleur and shifter, the KAPIC crankset with DM chainrings (26-38T sizes), a chain and their RVOLVER 13-speed hubs.

Switching things up from the mechanical groupset you know well, the 1×13 is designed with indexing located in the rear derailleur, as opposed to shifters, which helps deliver its crisp, precise shifting inside of the robust and protected casing.

In case you get a little wild on the road or trail, the 1×13 derailleur is protected by their reinforced Armored Box that protects against all external elements, shocks, and impacts. They use a 12-speed spacing on the rear, so to fit the 13-speed cassette they had to have a proprietary rear hub that has a broader freehub body and a decreased flange spacing. The two-piece cassette features a 6-cog aluminum upper spider and 7-cog steel lower.

The derailleur features a button that drops the chain down to the smallest cog, a pulley cage unlock so that it disengages itself from the clutch mechanism, and a barrel adjuster to alter the feel/effort required at the shifter lever. The shifter uses what they call a single, dual action paddle system, push a little and the chain moves down, push more, and the chain moves up. It oddly features two paddles, a larger one at the front that’s easier to reach while sitting and a farther back paddle that functions when standing. The shift paddle pushes the fluid to the derailleur, and the derailleur’s return spring pushes the liquid back to the levers reservoir body.

Adventure Kit Includes:

  • 1×13 rear derailleur
  • 1×13 shifter & housing
  • 1×13 RVOLVER Hubs (front & rear)
  • 1×13 cassette of your choice (11-46 or 11-52)
  • KAPIC crankset (165, 170, 175mm)
  • 1x DM chainring (26T-38T QRing or round)
  • 126-link chain (uncut)

The other variants of the 1×13 Hydraulic Groupsets include a road 11-36 and road/gravel 11-39, which feature different shifters. Outside of the shifters and different sized front chainrings, everything is mix and match between their road, gravel, and mountain groups. Also, the 13-speed derailleurs can be set to work with 12-speed cassettes and HG hubs if required.
