Orucase is one of those companies that makes bike cases that fit within the gray area of airline regulations for size limits; otherwise, you’ll pay high oversize fees on some airlines (Note: Golf bags never experienced that issue?). Recently most airlines have relaxed their size limitations, so Orucase saw an opportunity to create a durable and protective bike bag that can fit road, mountain, gravel, and drop-bar bikes. Internal or integrated cable routing makes it challenging to break bikes down into a compact size to fit into smaller bags; hence an almost full-sized bag seemed like the ideal candidate.
The new Orucase Axiom solves these problems and adds innovative technology and beefy toughness to protect your bike during travel. The modular system features an aluminum tubing roll-cage for structure and protection, a soft-shell body, a rigid base, rear drop-out holders, and sliding fork mounts.
The bike protection will come with impact-resistant side panels or inflatable-panel walls (i.e., air mattresses). They are still working out some additional features for padding, such as having expandable panels (zippered opening) by the handlebars to allow room for drop-bars to stay attached to the bike (mountain bike bars still need to be removed).
The aluminum roll-cage is collapsible, breaks down into the case, and the rigid bottom of the case folds into itself like a suitcase for easy storage at home or on the road.
They were showing a ‘rush to the show’ proto-type, so they still need some fine-tuning to fix some rough edges before coming to market. The Orucase Axiom Bike Travel Case is innovative and functional, making traveling more manageable and safer.
